The aims of this study are: to obtain information regarding the incidence of burn-out and career related depression, to make an inventory of the cause and to study the medical, social, professional and financial consequences of this problem in employees in teaching and nursing professions.During this cross-sectional research attemps will be made to identify the characteristics of the high risk-environments of burn-out.More specifically, research will be done concerning the related stress-induced immunosuppression and oxidative stress.From the results of this study and of an intervention study, specific guidelines will be developed regarding the primary and secondary prevention. Finally the free radical production caused by exercise (oxidative stress) will be studied, as well as the effect of antioxidant supplementation.
