Platform for Languages

Project Details

Description

The Platform for Languages was set up in April 2009 in order to sustain and further develop the applied linguistics research of the Erasmus University College Brussels. This interdisciplinary platform works towards the following goals: (1) acquiring external research funding, (2) enhancing the quality and quantity of research output, (3) embedding research in the master's degree course programmes.

Within the Platform for Languages research centres of both VUB and EhB develop research lines in foreign language acquisition, journalism, translation and interpreting studies and comparative linguistics. Current projects include investigations into phraseology, translation assessment, terminological variation, interpreting competence and discourse analysis.
In the near future efforts will be directed at a closer collaboration in education and training, which will allow more flexibility in the exchange of students.
