Research into the neurophychological sequels with apparently Life Threatening Event (ALTE) and 'at risk' Sudden Infant Death Syndrome(SIDS)

    Project Details

    Description

With this research proposal we want to investigate if neuropsychological sequale do exist in children aged4 to 8 who survived an ALTE in the first 6 months after their birth. ALTE stands for: "Apparently Life Threatening Event". New developments in medical technology have resulted in a lower death- rate in newborns (a decrease in mortality) but does this have an effect on psychological, behavioral morbidity? Using an extensive neuropsychological screening, we want to investigate if these children show a comparable, normal neuropsychological profile compared to control, healty born children.
