The scientific-technological aims of this project can be summarized as:
- Development of a numerical tool for the analysis of aero-acoustic phenomena in confined flows
- Experimental validation of the tool with special focus on the industrial application of low-excited noise in expansion chambers for car exhaust systems and in turbomachinery.
- Gaining insight and fundamental understanding of the noise generation mechanisms in confined flows by a synergetic combination of computations and experiments.
- Preliminary study of the noise treatment effect of damping materials.
The project consists of 6 closely coupled Work Packages. In view of the industrial applications, all developments are within an unstructured grid approach.
