Simulation of turbulent non-premixed combustion with CMC models in combination with LES techniques.

The aim of this project is the numerical simulation of non-premixed turbulent flames. The approach followed is based on state-of-the-art techniques. For the turbulence-chemistry interaction a conditional moment closure (CMC) technique will be used, whereas the description of the turbulent flow will be based on Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and related techniques such as hybrid LES/RANS and Detached Eddy Simulation (DES). the main test cases of the project will be piloted jet flames and bluff-body burners, with and without swirl, Masri et al (2004), Dally et al. (2003)
