Study of new scintillating materials and their readout for applications in life science and in high energy physics.

Project Details


One of the important techniques to detect and localise high energy electromagnetic radiation (i.e. X-rays and gamma rays) is the use of scintillating materials. As a result of the dramatic progress in fast electronic devices, faster scintillating materials are now needed, and new ways to readout the scintillating light have become available. Although the materials and methods wich we study can be applied in many areas, we will mainly concentrate on their use in positron emission tomogrpahy and in high energy physics.
