Study of the influence of corrosion inhibitors on metal surfaces with electrochemical (AC, EDH) and optical (SERS) spectroscopic methods.

    Inhibitors can be an efficient method to decrease the corrosion rate but their mechanism is yet very often badly known. The purpose of this project is to determine the mechanism of the influence of organic inhibitors on the copper corrosion with complementary electrochemical and surface analytical methods. Raman spectroscopy will be used in order to characterise the adsorption, hydrodynamical impedance spectroscopy in order to characterise the mass transport of the inhibitor to the electrode.
    With AC electrochemical impedance spectroscopy a model of the behaviour of copper in presence of inhibitors will be presented.
