Surrealism and the "Arbitrariness" of Metaphor. A Cognitive Approach to the Poetry of Two Experimental Generations of Flemish Poets

Different so-called experimental and postexperimental poets working in Flanders in the 1950s and 1960s and beyond have admitted being well acquainted with surrealism. Despite the apparent link between (post)experimental poetry in Flanders and surrealism, not much research has been devoted to this subject. This project therefore aims to investigate which Flemish poets can be said to incorporate surrealist elements in their oevres, and how they do this.
