This project aims at combining tin nucleus based 2D NMR and far FTIR spectroscopy in order to obtain a better insight into the solution and solid-state structures of water-soluble organotin compounds - water solubility being indispensible for a credible development of antitumour drugs potetially suitable for clinical applications - as well as into the structural nature of interactions these compounds display with target molecules in the biological medium. This project involves two parts: 1) the synthesis and characterization of several series of water-soluble organotin compounds; 2) the investigation of their interactions with mono- and oligonucleotides.
