Taking a capacity monitor in education

Project Details

Description

Since 2010, the Flemish government has released specific resources to create additional school capacity. These resources are allocated annually on the basis of existing and future local capacity needs in mainstream and special primary and secondary education. The capacity monitor makes a forecast of future capacity needs by mapping various factors, such as demographic evolutions, student commuting and throughput and outflow in education.

This exercise has already been carried out twice, the first time in 2015 and the second time in 2018. Since 2016, the capacity monitor has formed the basis for the distribution of resources across cities and municipalities. In addition, the monitor is also used in the selection procedure for school construction projects.
