Targeting the interaction of menin and androgen receptor (AR) for developing new drugs against prostate cancer

Project Details

Description

''The major goal of this proposal is to collect molecular data to support the development of drugs against late stages of prostate cancer (PC). Normally, functioning of the cells in prostate gland is maintained by biomolecules (DNA, proteins). Mutation in the DNA results in production of abnormal biomolecules causing PC, the late phase of which is untreatable (i.e. it has no cure). Our plan is to block the abnormal biomolecules by using drugs. Recent studies showed that PC is caused by the interaction of proteins named menin, MLL and androgen receptor (AR). Our aim is to characterize the menin-
AR interaction to be able to develop molecules that block AR binding to menin and thus slow down the progression of PC''
