Description
This project reflects a new view on mathematics. The creation of software for symbolic computation enables an experimental approach to mathematics. The aim of this project is to use the knowledge that we have in computer algebra applied to incidence geometry on new problems and to extend this knowledge. We shall, as is usual is natural sciences, do experiments to get a better understanding of abstract problems. This will lead to conjectures which will develop into new theoretical work. Comparing different (theoretical) methods will also be part of our project.
Specific programming languages will be used for computing with groups and geometry. These demand a lot of CPU power and memory which are not available at the department of mathematics.
This research is part of the quest for a generalisation of an existing theory which provides a geometric interpretation of abstract groups.
