The attitude of a liberal political philosophy towards a technical rationality.

Since the seventeenth century, Western thinking has been dominated by Cartesian principles. This thinking is built on fixed foundations, aims at certainty and domination, considers the human spirit as a mirror of nature and is essentially technologically oriented; the rejection of the Marxist models of society and the questioning of the social-democratic welfare state resulted in the search for a liberal political philosophy that abandons this claim to certainty. Is it possible to develop a way of thinking that criticises this technical rationality, excludes plurality and prides itself on knowing the essence of man and society and models human life upon a set of predetermined concepts? Is a liberal participatory politics in which civil society plays an important role a possible solution?
