The Belgian Stock Market’s Reaction to ESG News

This research project aims to bridge a knowledge gap by investigating whether and how ESG news influences investors’ decisions in a European capital market from 2018 to the present. In light of recent European regulatory changes, this project offers a novel and globally relevant perspective. By responding to calls for research by the ESMA to explore the influence of sustainability matters on European financial markets (European Securities and Market Authority, 2024), our findings will provide insights to both companies and other capital market players.
