The dynamics of Language Activity - an Evolutionary Reconstruction

    Project Details

    Description

Starting from an embodied philosophy and compatible with a systemstheoretical approach, the historical and biological origin of our diverse language activities will be investigated. The origin of our language activity will be evolutionary reconstructed through three different yet interrelated phases. (1) Based on pathologies and personality disorders (i.e. aphasia and schizophrenia), the interrelation between emotions, thinking, the locomotorsystem and language will be demonstrated. (2) Hereafter, with the help of anthropology, the language activity will get divided into the different language conducts (emotions, expressions, gestures, and abstract thinking). (3) Finally, studies in ethology, primatology, psycholinguistics and neurology, will be put to use to reconstruct the evolutionary origin of emotions, expressions, gestures and abstract thinking, from which we can deduce the origin of our language activity.
