This proposal addresses to important technical needs of electromagnetic and electrochemical industries in fast virtual product development processes. Three-dimensional optimisation tools are becoming of significant importance. Tools aiming at for example shape and topology optimisation are available but need a closer integration in the product development chain and need to be much faster.
This project aims to explore topological and shape optimisation of electromagnetic and electrochemical devices, based on an innovative numerical approach that couples:
the efficiency of the extended Finite Element Method with
the flexibility of the Level-Set Method used for computing the movement of the discontinuities and hence the modelling of complex topological changes.
