Virtual Institute for Chemometrics and Industrial Metrology (VICIM)

The virtual institute for industrial chemometrics and metrology (VICIM) intends to promote more cost-effective chemical measurement practices by making use of modern metrological and chemometric procedures and to develop procedures for adequate assessment of the quality of methods and measurement results. It brings togeher European competencies to :

- establish fundamendal knowledge about chemical measurement and chemometrical techniques in a metrological context to exploit in an optimal way analytical signals and transform them in measurements

- prepare tools that allow putting into practice the fundamental knowledge in specific areas of chemical analysis

- assist in transferring the knowledge to those who apply chemical measurement in industry, service laboratories, governmental agencies
