Abstract

Systems dynamics analysis using group model building, and in particular the identification of feedback loops linking various factors, can be used effectively to highlight leverage points for interventions. Producing such analysis through a participative group modeling process that engages a broad range of stakeholders provides the basis for a shared understanding of key problems and identification of potential solutions. Securing a means for collaborative analysis within local health systems facing any form of adversity is a key step toward solving health systems challenges. Group model building can provide an efficient means for supporting stakeholders in recognizing and appreciating valuable resources within their context and identifying systems dynamics that can provide plausible mechanisms to strengthen systems performance.
