Abstract

Battery systems have a great influence on the electrical vehicles (EVs) performance. As a result, there is a need for an accurate battery model to predict the battery system performance. This paper presents a fast review of the battery models from different view points such as; models parameters, modeling, performance with different loading conditions and advantages and drawbacks. In addition, suggest a series of innovative aspects into the partnership for a new generation of vehicles (PNGV).
It also presents a detailed description of the famous PNGV battery model and proposes several modifications on the PNGV model which may improve the dynamic behavior of this model. Experimental tests results of lithium-polymer 12Ah batteries are used for the battery models parameters estimation, modeling and validation. The battery models parameters estimation, modeling, as well as, models validation are implemented using MATLAB/Simulink
