Abstract

Air Pollution has been a concern for long time, with increasing evidence that it has serious impacts on the environment and public health. Particle matter, as an important airborne pollutant, causes increased mortality rates, largely due to respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. Vehicles, as a main source of particulate emissions and the ever-increasing number on the roads, are of specific interest.
This book joins this growing interest and adds a lot of new information to the topic. It provides a comprehensive overview of particulate emissions from vehicles. In 11 chapters the book goes from the fundamentals and formation to the characterisation, measurement, abatement, toxicology and disintegration, all in a structured and clear way.
