Abstract

Sandwich panels with Textile Reinforced Cement faces (TRC) are an interesting structural material
due to their energy savings and structural efficiency combination. Using them as loadbearing walls
however calls for an improved design of the sandwich panel ends so that proper load introduction and
transfer from one face to the other can be assured. Proper investigation of these ends is missing in the
literature and so compression tests on TRC sandwich panels with five different end designs were
performed. This testing has given significant insight into the influence of the panel design on the
observed failure mode These results give crucial information for the design of large-scale sandwich
panels and constitutes a first step towards the realisation of their utilisation in future structures for
near zero energy buildings.
