Abstract

This paper surveys the position of the European Union and its legislation in respect of genetically modified plants. It also critically examines the relevant domestic legislation of eight European countries (Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom) and focuses on each country’s standards and requirements for the cultivation of GM plants.
