Abstract

This paper reports on characterisation work performed in the scope of the European E-TOUR-project on three aspects of electrically assisted bicycles: the bicycles have been evaluated for commuting use throughout the city; a test facility for bicycles has been developed; and a group of test persons out of the "ageing population" has been tested on a physiological-medical basis for evaluation of the benefits that a renewed physical activity with electric bicycles can bring.
