Abstract
Physical Internet (PI) is an emerging logistics and supply chain management paradigm. PI takes advantage of extensive interconnectivity to reform the operations. The information system is the backbone to support the activities in this novel paradigm. In this review paper, we aim to investigate the state-of-the-art and research gaps in the PI information system. We focus on the distinctive features of the PI information system and make comparisons with general logistics research regarding the research trends. Finally, we identify some directions of the PI information system for future research.
