Abstract

Domain walls are topological defects arising from the spontaneous breaking of a discrete symmetry. Being motivated in several Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) scenarios, including axion models, these energetic objects are viable sources of a stochastic gravitational wave background with a broken power-law spectrum. Including the possible effects of friction in an axion model, we show that in the near and far future third generation interferometers would be able to detect these spectra, providing a unique probe of BSM physics.
