Abstract
I follow two paths to approach David Mamet's film and screenwriting work. On the one hand I will map Mamet's oeuvre according to the difference he himself proposes bewteen crime movie and con film. On the other hand I analyse the ways in which Mamet plays with the rules of the game. Besides Mamet's own ideas about film writing, I will use contrastive theories such as Kracauer's.
