Intelligent DC-DC Converter for Fuel Cell Road Vehicles -System design, optimization and validation

Abstract

In this paper, the results of a horizontal research activities involving SMES Cooperative research project, INTELLICON (Intelligent DC-DC Converter for Fuel Cell Road Vehicles) within EU 6th framework program are presented. The key issue is to design a DC-DC converter with high-efficiency and light-weight, which can intelligently interface the fuel cell based power generation and the super capacitor based energy storage in a hybrid electric vehicles. The system design and control principle of the converter are verified and optimized based on NEDC speed cycle. The experimental results show that the prototyped converter has the advantages of high efficiency and reliability. Hence the objectives of the project are achieved.
