Abstract

This article concentrates on early short fiction by Marieluise Fleißer, written for newspapers in 1926. Using concepts of grotesque aesthetics I consider how Fleißer's poetics try to find a place in between the concurring movements of the Neue Sachlichkeit and the Avant-garde.
