Abstract

The design of microwave bandpass filters is not an easy task. Their frequency response behavior depends on multiple geometrical design parameters. Since current design methods only yield initial values for these parameters, optimization using numerically expensive electromagnetic (EM) solvers is often needed. Rather than relying on blind optimization using EM solvers, we propose to model the filters frequency behavior as a function of its design parameters. Such models are often called meta-models and they have been proven to be a reliable and numerically cheaper alternative for the EM simulator. Moreover they provide physical insight in the filters behavior. In this poster we discuss the use of 2 kinds of different meta-models for the design of microwave bandpass filters.
