MOBILE ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING AND SELF-REGULATION AS STRATEGIES TO LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract

This paper proposes mobile assisted language learning (MALL) and self-regulation as useful strategies to improve foreign language learning among young professionals and adults. Taking into account that technology and bilingualism are issues of great importance in Colombia, the search for innovating coping strategies is one of the biggest challenges to look upon. Thus, a critical review on the existing policies towards technology and language learning in Colombia, and an overview of studies about MALL and self-regulation all around the globe will be stated so as to motivate working age population to learn a foreign language by means of technology and self-regulation strategies.
