Abstract

This paper reports on the activities performed in the framework of the European EUREKA labeled project
called New Electric Postman Helper. The project aims to define the specifications for a range of mobility
devices for postal distribution and consequently to develop the electrical power trains for these devices.
The severe postal requirements which are not satisfied by the vehicles on the European market today, and
the strong interest of the postal organizations induced the set-up of this project. The introduction of Light
Electric Vehicles (LEV), in particular two- and three-wheelers, in the postal delivery business allows
longer and more efficient delivery rounds.
