'Non-religious mysticism: between immanence and transcendence'

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference paper

Abstract

This essay explores the phenomenon of non-religious mysticism, defined by ecstatic experiences and persistent spiritual quests without religious content in the context of French twentieth-century literature and philosophy. The author argues that there are two types of such mysticism, a mysticism of transcendence and a mysticism of immanence. Moreover there is a dialectical link between immanence and transcendence in most forms of non-religious mysticism.
