Abstract
The present work proposal aims to follow the thought of Gilles Deleuze in what concerns his terminology about becoming. Deleuze in his works Abecedário (1994) and Mil Platôs
(1997), introduces the concept both of folding and of becoming, dialoguing with two specific types of public outside the academy. The paper folders and the surfers. His position transgresses not only the territory of the academic discussion itself, but also marks a new territory in the doing-knowing. When Deleuze pronounced his position on the concept of fold, the unusual response he received from the paper folders and the surfers (SOULTRAIT, 1998), threw a new beam of light on the task of philosophy itself. Surfing as a reflexive and philosophical practice is still in a deterritorialised position vis-à-vis the academy itself. Jokes about the "empty heads" of surfers are generally known
all over the world. However, when it comes to an existential reflection of the animal-man in the moment he surfs, the surfer folds himself into a deep existential connection in the moment of surfing. However, Deleuze has not prepared a proper concept of what is a becoming-surfer or a becoming-wave. Thus, it is on the assumption that philosophy has the task of calling into question fundamental problems for the understanding of the animal-man condition, the exercise proposed here is threefold. 1) to establish the concept of becoming-wave on the basis of Deleuze's analyses; 2) to present a small anthropo-philosophical case study in the application of the concept of becoming-wave; 3) to discuss the interweaving of the two previous points on the basis of the contemporary scientific-philosophical positioning of the Italian physicist Carlo Rovelli (2021). Furthermore, the present paper draws on the model of ethnography for anthropology defined by Michel Foucault. For Foucault in Archaeology of Knowledge (2015) it is necessary to think the role of ethnography itself as a philosophical reflection. Thus, it is based on these theoretical assumptions that the present work aims to expand the territory of philosophical reflection on surfing by demystifying the practice of surfing as a practice absent of Philosophy. After all, according to Deleuze (1994, p. 04) "The territory is the properties of the animal, and to leave the territory is to venture".
