Abstract

From 1860 until 1920, the evolutions in architecture were enormous. The Art Nouveau movement was born at the end of the nineteenth century and is internationally known as the highlight of the cultural history of Belgium. However, the scientific research of this important period mostly ignores the construction and engineering technology.
The publication focuses on the goals of a research project on glass coverings that started at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels.
