Abstract
In this review of Laerke's monograph on Spinoza and the freedom of philosophizing, the argument of the author is followed: in what sense come together in the libertas philosophandi the academic freedom of science, the freedom of conscience/religion and the political freedom of thought and speech. This reflection conducts at an inquiry of the political message of Spinoza and thinkers of his context and circle.
