Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse social inclusion through sport programs in Turkey. In doing so, we will interrogate youth projects of Turkey’s ministry of youth and sport, employing Fairclough’s (2012) critical discourse analysis framework. Before focusing on social inclusion through sport, we will analyse the current condition of youth and try to address main problems. Subsequently, we assess if there are any instrumental uses of sport to overcome those social problems. A closer look will be taken on the place of social inclusion based community sport programs in youth and sport policy documents in Turkey. As a result, we offer to provide the discourses of sport policy authorities about the conceptualizations of youth and sport, and in particular its relation to community sport through social inclusion programs.
