State of the Art of Standardization for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

Abstract

The operation of the electrically propelled vehicle is dependent on the availability
of efficient electric energy storage devices: the traction batteries. To allow the use
of cheap and clean electric energy from the grid, recharging infrastructures shall be
available to transfer electric energy from the distribution grid to the battery. This
transfer can be done either by conduction or by induction, with the first system
being the most widely used.
This report will present the current evolution in the field of charging infrastructure
standardization, giving special interest to ongoing European developments in the
field.
