Abstract

Catastrophes like wars and natural disasters have occurred for ages. However, the last decades the amount of emergency situations caused by natural disasters has increased in a frightening way. In this paper the causes of this increase are investigated and a proposition for sustainable disaster response is developed. The potential of such a global approach is illustrated through a case study.
