    Abstract

This poster reports two experiments designed to test whether adding labels to a 7-point category rating scale affects the linearity of this scale. We tested whether the same pattern of factorial curves that was found in previous studies, indicating a specific integration rule, is retrieved if labels are attached to all scale points or only to the extremes. The results show that fully labeled rating scales and end-point-only labelled scales both reproduce the pattern of factorial curves that was found in previous studies. We conclude that both scales yield linear responses.
