Abstract
By focusing on a corpus that is largely drawn from the French-speaking world of the North, this introduction to the special issue of Textimage looks at situations where the image, in its most concrete dimension, can be grasped as a fundamental creative spring or driving force, and is particularly invested with a haptic dimension that is considered here both in its original definition of what relates to the sense of touch and in the broader sense proposed by Tim Ingold, i.e. one that involves and arouses affects and emotions.
