Abstract

It is generally admitted that it is impossible to store light in a volume with subwavelength dimensions due to the wavelike nature of light. In this contribution, we design optical cavities within the framework of transformation optics. We overcome the fundamental diffraction limit and demonstrate the existence of cavities with subwavelength eigenmodes.
