Abstract
Research on attitudes and preferences towards autonomous vehicles (AVs) among the general population reports a low interest in shared forms of AV transport. Interest in sharing is often positively related to sustainable travel habits and experience with current forms of on-demand transport. Current users of car-sharing services are brought forward as a potential group of early adopters. Therefore, this paper investigates perceptions and preferences for car-sharing and ride-sharing with AVs among current users of car-sharing services in Belgium. A survey was composed using constructs from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. Regression analysis shows that performance expectancy, effort expectancy and hedonic motivation are significant predictors for shared use of autonomous pabenger cars. Preference indicators show a varied interest in use for ride-sharing with AVs.
