Abstract

Building the capacity of and creating sustained partnerships with young people are crucial strategies to achieve sustainable rural development in most parts of the world. Unfortunately this has not been fully realized by the international and national development stakeholders. Agenda 21 recognizes the vital role of youth in SD hence their involvement and effective participation. Wabane subdivision of Lebialem Division in South West region of Cameroon is estimated to have a population of which 70% constitute the youth group. his research focuses on the capacity of the youth to contribute to SRD in this area, participating in Bechati, Besali, and Bamumbu villages which are the principal villages of the sub-division.
