The new classical economic theory is presented as free of value. This paper researches how its main assumptions: 'utility maximation', 'rational expectations', 'market efficiency' and 'general equilibrium' developed since the classical economists and what are the logical implications on the view of man and of the world. Further is investigated how neoliberalism, and the political implentation of this theory, gained foothold after the Second World War and what was the effect of its implementation in Chile, the United Staes and the United Kingdom. 'Desire' and 'willing', 'value' and 'price', 'debt' and 'justice' are analysed axiologically. Finally, the impact of the concept of responsability and our view of society and men is approached philosophically.
