This master thesis gives an analyses of the concept of decency at society level in social philosophy according to Margalit. A decent society is a society that does not humiliate his members. In the thesis the concept of decency is therefor not to be understanded as 'decent' in terms of social acceptance but more as a concept in contrast with terms as humiliation, honour, self-esteem, self-value, equity, justice. The work of Margalit does not form a pure critique on Rawls 'Theory of Justice' like Walzer's work 'Spheres of Justice' do but it is a sort of follow up work, making a difference between a just society and a decent society. It is not about a just distribution of primary goods like Rawls descibes, but about the way the distribution is done.
