Perceptions of the environmental impacts of tourism in Mamaia, Romania.

Student thesis: Master-after-master

Abstract

This study explores tourists' perceptions of the environmental impacts of tourism in Mamaia,
Romania. In total 200 tourists completed self-administered questionnaires in July 2009. The
findings suggest that perceptions do not necessarily depend only on age and level of
education. Tourists do not think that their actions have any or a low impact on the
environment. They also have rather limited perceptions of the major environmental impacts of
tourism, but they are more sensitive to direct impacts.
