Two-day seminar on innovative methodologies in gender and sexuality studies, focusing on decolonial, postcolonial, post-humanist, feminist new materialist and post-quantitative approaches. The seminar included lectures by renowned scholars, discussant commentary, and masterclasses where participants engaged with readings and presented research. The aim was to critically examine traditional research paradigms, amplify marginalised voices, and explore methods for decolonising knowledge production in gender and sexuality studies. It highlighted the importance of critically reflecting on research methods and epistemologies, decolonising knowledge production and avoiding the reproduction of hierarchies and biases. Lectures and master classes focused on critical studies of gender and sexuality with global and South African perspectives. The sessions critically examined patriarchal frameworks and intersections of policy, practice and social justice.
