Description
The intervention, titled "Transformative Power of Sport for and by Students: a gender-based violence prevention journey (TPS-prevention journey)," was developed using the intervention mapping approach. This five-session intervention, each lasting two hours, was specifically designed to meet the needs of undergraduate students in physical education. To evaluate the feasibility of the intervention, we conducted an assessment at the University of Liège (Belgium), incorporating feedback from one facilitator and three observers. The assessment focused on four primary indicators: reach, dosage, fidelity, and acceptability. Throughout the intervention, the facilitator recorded detailed notes in a logbook after each session, while observers documented their observations. In-depth interviews were conducted following the third session, and a focus group discussion was held at the end of the program, involving both the facilitator and observers. All qualitative data collected from interviews and the focus group were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. Results indicated that while the session content was satisfactory, there were notable gaps in the effectiveness of knowledge transfer methods. Specifically, role-playing activities designed to teach non-violent communication did not yield the expected outcomes. Additional challenges included infrastructural limitations, time constraints, and deviations from the structured activity guide. Furthermore, facilitators demonstrated a lack of understanding of the intervention’s underlying principles and trauma-sensitive approaches. These findings highlight the necessity to refine the intervention strategy and provide comprehensive training for facilitators to enhance the effectiveness of gender-based violence prevention initiatives.Periode | 27 nov 2024 |
