MIMIC Construction Logistics Multi-Actor Multi-Criteria Analysis Workshop

Activiteit: Participating in or organizing a public lecture/debate

Description

Construction logistics is estimated to represent 25% of all freight traffic in cities. Despite urban construction allows to foster more attractive, sustainable and viable cities in the long run, its logistics activities are the source of vast environmental nuisances and external costs such as air pollution, climate change, congestion, etc. during the construction site duration. Improved coordination of construction logistics can decrease such negative impacts and could also lead to significant financial benefits. However, today there is a lack of knowledge on how to set such demands and how to involve stakeholders in these processes.
As part of the EU-funded MIMIC project (“Minimizing Impact of construction Material flows In Cities”), this stakeholder workshop aims to demonstrate how different urban logistics concepts can facilitate construction logistics, thereby involving all stakeholders in the process. The stakeholder analysis maps how actors interact with each other, the main criteria they propose, and eventually arrive at a supported solution. This is done by means of a Multi-Actor Multi-Criteria Analysis (MAMCA).
As one out of four European implementation cases, the Brussels pilot case is the ‘City Campus’ project (formerly known as ‘Gryson’) in Anderlecht, a 17.600 m² site bringing together light industrial activities and housing facilities. The 'City Campus'construction project is located near the CERIA campus in Anderlecht, in between the Aardbeienstraat and the Grysonlaan.
The Stakeholder Workshop on 17/11/2020 aims to: (1) Gather stakeholders involved in the 'City Campus' project & construction logistics in Brussels; (2) To stimulate communication, networking and collaboration in the sector and; (3) To find consensus amongst stakeholders on different economic, environmental and societal goals regarding construction logistics solutions.
