Psychological Impact, Mental Health and Sleep Disorder among Care Workers and global population during the 2nd wave of COVID-19 [CHU-COVIDIMPACT.2]

Activiteit: Written proposal

Description

Since March 2019, when the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic, Belgium has been successively hit by two epidemic waves. Since the onset of the epidemic, hospital staff have been heavily demanded in various aspects (work schedules and the arduousness of the work). The pandemic required a great deal of adaptability from hospital staff, which could lead to anxiety. After the first wave, we evaluated the mental health, sleep, and psychological impact of hospital staff using an online questionnaire. We included 915 individuals between June 8 and August 4, 2020.
The data analysis showed a significant impact on all areas studied, with the emergence of sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress. The complete data analysis is still ongoing.
The aim of our study is to re-evaluate the mental health, sleep disorders, and psychological impact of the pandemic after the second wave of hospital staff. We also plan to present the results of our first study to the hospital staff before initiating the second survey. Additionally, we will investigate the same variables within the general population, to compare these results.
The objective is to evaluate the mental health, psychological impact, and sleep disorders among hospital staff, and the general population, after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be done via an online questionnaire.
